I'm Overwhelmed....But Why?
Another problem is that I have so much 2 write. I have my book, my regular articles (that aren't so regular anymore), my series of short stories (that I keep starting and cancelling 2 start all ova), my articles for my job in Naija, and all the other mini writin projects I have. Believe me, I have sooooo many. I just completed one - 8 pages, 4998 words.
Oh, I was reading a writing book the other day, and it said one of the myths about writers is that 'they are all crazy'. I couldn't help but laugh at that. Uju always says I'm crazy cause I'm a writer and I come up with all sorts of crazy ideas. Of course, I had 2 call her and tell her that it was a myth. But then again, it doesn't say that all writers are not crazy, it says not all are, so I just might be among those that are. But I think I seriously doubt it. I am as sane as they come. God help me.
Has any1 seen the movie 'Secret Window' starring Jonny Depp? Gosh, he's so sexxxy, but that's beside the point. The point is that he was a writer in the movie, and he totally went crazy and killed his ex-wife and her boyfriend. Uju makes it a habit 2 reference 2 that movie all the time. But does that mean I will go crazy and kill my ex?? Nah, that's definitely not gonna happen. I don't have any ex whom I want back.... so killin said ex is definitely not even an option.
OK - I've officially gone off the subject. The point of this post is to emphasize the fact that I am overwhelmed. So far, I think I have replied all the mails I'm supposed to reply - thank God for that miracle. I'm feeling better by the way. My eye is a lot better and my throat too is definitely better. It almost doesn't hurt anymore even.
So do I know why I am overwhelmed now? Not really. I mean, I know why I am overwhelmed, but I don't know why those things overwhelm me. A writer has gat 2 write, right?
Well, I'm out of here. I guess we go yarn later. Bye.

Good News
So what's the good news, you wonder. The first good news is that I went to see a doctor yesterday, and I was prescribed some medications: antibiotics and some eye drop. I took some advil too yesterday to relieve some of the pain in my throat, and I tell you, I was glad I did. I carry advil in my purse everyday, but somehow, it never occured to me to take it to relieve the pain in my throa. I only remember my advil when I have a headache.
The second good news is that Funmi has a sore throat. Yay!!! My next target is Uju. I want her to come down with all my problems too. I want her to suffer like I am. I know you must be thinking I am evil, but trust me, I am as sweet as they come. Why should I suffer alone? When I cook, she [Uju] comes to eat, so why can't she be sick with me? Wait till I fast for her; you's be surprised how fast she will fall sick. Amen.
Anyways, so many people left me comments about my latest article, Love & Be Loved on the sites where I posted them and some sent me emails. I have not replied any emails yet, but thank God I am up early, huh? Well, I better start working on those replies right now. You can check this link out to see the most replies I got. http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/articles/vera-ezimora/love-and-be-loved.html
I just started two more articles, but only God knows when I will finish them. But once I do, you know you'll be the first to know. Thanks a lot y'll!
One wet kiss for every pair of lips. (@ least that would promote my sore throat... hehehe)

Anyways, enjoy the commercial sha.

Oh God, Why Me Now Ehn? Why Not Funmie...She Deserves It
There I was, being the good girl that I have always been, and this damn cold just had to strike me. Now, my nose is stuffy and I can't breathe. I was still tryna deal with that, and then yesterday my right eye starting itching so bad. I had tears streaming down my right eye nonstop, but I didn't even know how bad it was until I came home and looked at my eye in the mirror. It was RED! Just the right eye oh. This morning I woke up with a sore throat; can you imagine? What kinda rubbish is this? Why am I the one with all these problems when Funmie has none? I slept @ Funmie's house last night and tried my best to give her one of my illnesses, but she refused to catch it. But it's all good though; I will make sure I put her in2 prayer. I know prayer moves mountains, so by the time I pray about it, Funmi will wake up being just as sick as I am.
Anyways, I diagnosed myself with "pink eye" (conjunctivitis) - actually, Funmie's sister, Seun diagnosed me with it, so I researched it online and found out that there are three types: Allergic, Viral and baterial. From the symptoms I am having, I'm thinking and really hoping that mine is allergic, but what is the cause? I do remember picking out a piece of mascara from my right eye on Sunday - could that be the problem? I also cleaned my eyes with eye makeup remover, and some of it got in2 my eye....but it was the left eye it got in2. So what the hell is ma problem??? Oh well, I got myself some Visine-A for red eye and irritation, and the redness has decreased...although it's still itching the hell outta me, but I'll live. I definitely won't miss it when its gone. But you know what will make me really, really, really happy? Funmie's catching all my sicknesses and even more.
Oh, and I'm done with my article 'Love & Be Loved'. You can read it on my other blog www.veraezimora.com or you can visit other Naija sites: www.nigeriaworld.com www.nigeriansinamerica.com www.nigeriavillagesquare.com
Well, I guess that's it for now. Help me talk to our Father, God, so He can be merciful enough to let Funmie have hers!

Sorry I've Been Away
Usually, I blog more often, but I have been writing several things at the same time. I have been writing my book, writing a short story, and writing an article. I'm done with the article called "Love And Be Loved", and I am almost done with the shohrt story (just need to do some final editing).
Anyways, I was harrassed this morning that none other than my yeye friend Funmi. Can you believe she had the nerve to tell a fine girl like myself that I am crazy? That girl don dey grow wings oh...or maybe I did her cornrows too tight cause that's the only other plausible explaination for her new found boldness. LOL. I know I would be getting some insults from her in my comment box, but who cares??
There's a video for Naija commercials that I have been tryna blog, but for whatever reason, it's not blogging. I can't stay right now and try to figure out the problem cause I gotta take a shower and be outtie. For those old folks (like me) who lived in Naija for a period of their lives, when you see the video, you will laugh your head off. It's crazy!! I really love YouTube, you know. They have the funniest videos there...especially the Naija ones.
Anyways, I'm out of here. Wanna join me in the shower??? Mm mm mm

Soul Mate My Ass!
By the way, for those that are lost and thinking, my God, how could Vera say that?!, I am not talking about a human soul mate like your partner/significant other, I am talking about a soul mate in everything else...like lotion, soap, deodorant, etc. OK, maybe I am the only one crazy enough to try and find my soul mate in everything sha, but a while ago, I thought I could. I have been using Olay Soap for a while, and I was sure it was my soul mate in soap, but then today, I fell for temptation. I bought Careess soap instead. In my defense, I am only trying the Caress, so after the trial period, I might continue using caress, or go back to Olay, or even try a completely different soap - who knows? I have been using Olay lotion for a while too, although I did fumble a week ago and began to dream about another lotion: Aveeno! Needless to say, I did not buy Aveeno, and I am still with my Olay Quench, and from the looks of it, I will not be buying Aveeno...@ least not anytime soon. I am back in love with Olay. I have to congratulate my self for still using the same deodorant (Secret). One might argue that it isn't the same one because I have changed fragrances, but at least they are all Secret, right? And besides (in my defense again), the only reason why I tried several ones was because when I went to buy the regular ones, they didn't have them, so I had to try something new. Right now, I'm using the Vanilla one, and I love it! It's a new fragrance and it is absolutely perfect!...until I fall for another one, of course.
Now, why do I feel like you're interested in all this garbage I just typed? I dunno really. I just feel like you might wanna know about my stuff. Be thankful I didn't start telling you about sanitary pads. But wait a minute! I have been using the same sanitary pads (Always) since I started needing them, i.e. mensturating. So, I guess I have been faithful and loyal to Always, right? I solemnly believe that I would never sway from using Always pads. They are the best - I don't care what anyone says. Hmmmm....so much for not telling you about my pads, huh? Seriously, when I typed that I wasn't gonna tell you about my pads, I meant it, but some how I got caught up in the moment. I remembered that I have been faithful to Always, and so I figured I needed to give myself a pat on the back for a job well done...don't you think so?
Oh well....I guess that's the end of my sermon - if you'd call it that, of course.
Have a mighty good day. I'm off to finish writing my short story, so I can send it off to the people I am writing it for.

What To Wear...
This morning I took a soothing shower in preparation for Church, but when it was time 2 dress up, I couldn't find anything. Something was wrong with everything in my closet: too professional, too tight, too revealing, too casual, too party-ish, too black, etc. Some I didn't wanna wear for other reasons; for example, I didn't wanna wear a traditional outfit, so all of then were automatically out of the race to win Vera's heart on Sunday.
Finally, sha, I decided to wear a light blue dress that came with a jacket...but I couldn't wear it cause the chain in front of the dress had broken. When did it break? Then I decided to wear a pair of black pants and a white shirt, but I couldn't find the pair of pants. Where was it? From there, I decided to wear a flay black skirt with the white shirt, but the shirt didn't fit me! (It fit me everywhere except my breast). OK, I knew I had put on some weight since the last time I wore the shirt (in 2001 or 2002), but I didn't know my breasts grew that big! Soooo, I decided to be creative and wear a camisole inside so I can leave the first two buttons unbottoned, but as soon as I looked @ myself in the mirror, I knew it was a bad combination. The skirt was too chic and too fine for the simple shirt. I didn't wanna wear any spaghetti strapped top (cause I just don't wear those to church).
I decided to wear a black and white shirt, but I couldn't find it. It was in the laundry basket. Honestly speaking, for a brief moment, I considered fishing it out, spraying some perfume on it and calling it a day. What's so bad about that? Men do it too! Anyways, after I thoughtabout all the would-be repercussions of my actions, I decided to not to go through with fishing through my dirt. My other choice was to wear this really chic black top, but I didn't wanna wear it cause I had a black skirt on and I didn't wanna look like I was going to a funeral, so I decided to wear a red flay skirt, but where was it? It was in the laundry basket again! To cut the long story short, I was forced to wear a black skirt and a black shirt, but I carried a white purse to add some 'light' to my outfit.
FASHION MISHAP: This black girl/lady had on creme colored capris and, creme colored pumps and white socks! Not, even stockings oh, but socks - full blown socks! I couldn't believe my eyes. I don't even wanna mention or remind myself of the fact that it is hotttt outside. Who wears socks with pumps???
Well, I guess that's all my gossip for today. You know I will be back for more.

I'm Craving...
Now, what have I been craving?
- Pounded yam and egwusi soup - this has been my number one i-gotta-have-it
- Suya - this is pretty much a standard craving; i.e. I don't think I would ever stop craving it.
- Yam and egg-stew - another standard craving
- Cooked yam with oil, pepper, and ukpaka - yum yum
- Cooked yam, vegetables and ugba - yes, I love yam and anything that has to do with it.
- Pizza crusts - yeap, you read it right. I'm not craving the pizza itself; just the crust.
- Cake - thanks to my cousin, Ngo in London; she sent me a picture of her wedding cake and now I want some!
- Isi ewu - definitely a standard craving; I'll neva stop craving it
- Gala - that snack they sell in Naija (gosh, it's been so long; tooooo long!)
- Okpa - I think this is an Igbo meal. I dunno the name in English and I dunno what it's made of, but I want it. It's kinda like moimoi and it's made in a leaf (which I hope is sanitized)
- Bread and hot, spicy akara - this craving was ignited because my momma made some akara the other day, but there was no bread.
- Mede-mede - this is something we made in high skool in Naija. I'm sure all skools did it, but they all had different names for it. It consists of cabin biscuits, milk, sugar and water (and Bournvita/Milo/Ovaltine if you like, but I did it without it)
- Granola bars - this has become my favorite snack. Just the oatmeal one though
- Akamu with milk and sugar - I cannot xpain why I want this, but I do!
- Roasted corn - During my family cookout two months ago, we roasted some corn that was hardly enough for everyone, so since then I have been wanting some.
Sooooo, if any of you very nice people decide to send gimme one of the things I'm cravings, lemme know. Don't send me food o! I have 2 go with you 2 buy it. I don't know you like that; abi you wan poison me?

Crocodile Hunter Is Dead???
Steve, his wife, and daughter.OK - it's official, this life is crrrrraaaaazzzzzyyyyyy!!!! Steve Irwin - popularly known as the crocodile hunter is dead. Considering the fact that he jumps into crocodile-infested waters, grabs poisonous snakes, and chases all sorts of animals on paths that a regular person would dare not do, I shouldn't be surprised that he was killed by an animal. However, the irony of it all is that he was killed by a mere stingray. Can you freakin believe it? He was killed by a fish that is usually considered passive. I guess he may have gone too close to it or something, cause the stingray pierced his heart. It went right through his heart. I cannot believe this! That's like some1 constantly racing with all sorts of things - motor bikes, cars, trucks, etc, and then the person gets killed by a scooter. I mean, how ironic is that?
Just in case you're wondering what a stingray looks like, here is a picture of one

The tail of the stingray is what pierced Steve Irwin's heart. He is an Australian man married to an American wife, and is survived by his wife and two kids.
Men, I cannot believe this man is dead. I might sound like I am making too much of this or taking this too personal, but damn, this is serious.
May his soul rest in perfect peace anyway, Amen.

Happy Birthday Uncle George!
If you noticed, I used "was" for my uncle; that's because he has passed on. He passed away on the 11th of January 2003 (3 days b4 my birthday and his son's birthday - we share the same birthday [Jan 14th]). He suffered a heart attack and died b4 getting to the hospital. None of us - including him knew he was @ risk for a heart attack. He was young (in his forties) and fit - to our knowledge. On that day, he went into his bedroom to rest and never came out alive. My aunt just went to check on him when she noticed his body was cold.
Anyways, I am not here to think about his sudden demise or remember the pain it brought to everyone. Rather, I just wanna celebrate his birthday. I know he is in heaven with God, so I'm hoping God has some form of internet access over there, so Uncle George can read this and know I still remember it's his birthday today. And of course, I still think the world of him.
Dear God, please get some form of internet access up there; Verizon DSL really is cheap and totally worth every penny You put into it. And while You're @ that, please tell Uncle George to log on to www.verastic.blogspot.com as soon as you get the internet thing going. Thanks, Lord.

My Unplanned Trip To New York
Lemme tell you about my uncle (I'm always telling you about people, right? I wonder how said people would feel when they find out I've been writin about them. Let's hope they don't find out anyways): He is a lawyer - or rather, was a lawyer in Naija, but hasn't started working here as a Lawyer. He moved 2 the States on the 2nd of June 2006 (exactly 3 months ago). He was staying with my aunt (his junior sister) here in MD, but took the NY bar because he wants 2 live in NY. The results aren't out yet, but he went 2 NY and found an apartment for him and his family. We thought he was gonna live in NY by himself, make a living, put his feet on the ground (while his kids are schoolin here in Maryland), but the man had a different agenda. So....anyways, he found an apartment but the problem was how to get there with his entire family (wife & two kids) and all their property - clothes, shoes. pots, food stuff, few electronics, etc that my mother and his sisters bought for them. Taking the bus won't be easy cause some1 would have 2 pick them up in NY but their property would be too much to fit in one car.
To cut the long story short, my mother offered to drive them there. Her plan was to rent a Ford expedition truck from Enterprise, drive them 2 NY, drop the truck at a NY Enterprise location and then take Greyhound (the bus) back, but Enterprise said she couldn't leave their MD vehicle at their NY location, so my mother figured she'd just drive to and fro. I figured that was her only option, but then I started wondering who would come back with her from NY. I asked her if any of her sisters were going with her and she said no, so I offered to go with her, so that she would not be driving and tryna read the directions @ the same time. So that's how I ended up in NY. We ended up renting a Ford F120 pick-up truck cause their stuff was toooo much. We left MD @ 3:15pm and got to NY past 8pm, so the trip took us about 5 hours instead of three and half (thanks to TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO!!!). It rained all the way from MD to NY and back to MD, but thank God for granting us journey mercies.
Anyways, I'm glad to be back home. Did you miss me?

I Am A Bamboo
Yesterday, I was reading a piece on Diamond's blog which talked about how people have different purposes in life. You need to read the piece itself 2 understand where I am coming from. Anyways, the point is that a person can be a bamboo; that is, even though you're born at the same time frame with some1 else, that person may start out being big (successful) while you may start out looking like you're going nowhere fast, but the moment you do start going somewhere, you will blow up! because all that time you were 'stagnant', it was because you were growing roots....just like the bamboo. Well, I am a bamboo.
For six years I have cried @ God's feet begging him to grant me one thing....or rather a series of things, but every time I thought I had a tiny bit of light @ the end of the tunnel, something always came up and put it right out. It was like every time I lighted a lil candle and hoped it would turn into a huge furnace, some big tornado (and even hurricane) came and blew it out. Every time I would have a lil bit of hope, something always came up and snatched it right out. I thought God had abandoned me, and I felt like my sins were just too much for him 2 hear me. I had almost given up. In fact, I stopped praying because I didn't feel the need to pray - it's not like anyone was listening anyway.
Out of nowhere, I got my first miracle. I couldn't believe it, but my light actually didn't go out this time. I mean, I actually had a light @ the end of the tunnel, and it stayed on long enough for me to meet it and take a hold of it. Miraculously, the tornados and hurricanes didn't find my light this time.
Anyways, the point is that since that day (Aug 15th), a buncha lil things have been happening 2 me. Some people might call them coincidences, but I do not believe in coincidences, and neither do I believe in luck. Coincidences are all part of destiny and luck is favor from God. These lil things that have been happening have led me to believe that maybe my roots are done growing, and now they are ready to become a huge tree. My roots are ready to become wings so that I can fly high above my wildest expectations. Well, whatever the case is, I say Amen to it.
Some day I'm gonna talk about this in details, but for now, I do not feel comfortable spilling all the beans. God knows what I mean.
And all you bloggers and blog readers, please help me to thank God.
I'm out........

Alright, Alright, Here Are The Naija Fest Pictures!
Jennifer and her hubby, Segun. Aww, they look so good together, don't they?
Busola and Uju; I dunno what they were feeling like.
Uju and her man Emeka - see how they have matching green-white-green outfits? Reppin' Naija 2 the skin
Busola and Tope. The boy is fine, isn't he? Just look @ the difference in height...and she was wearing heels o!
Seun and two strange girls. I'm not calling them strange in terms of being weird oh; I'm calling them strange because I don't know them. Well, I guess I could call them 'unknown girls', but why would I do that when I could just say 'strange'? Seun turned me in2 his UNPAID photographer. He's cool though. Monday, August 28, 2006
Racing Thoughts...
Oh, and something else: my faithful reader wanted 2 know when I gat a boyfriend. My sistah, I cannot blame you for asking. Well, I have had one since April of 2005, but I decided not 2 talk about him (4 reasons I might discuss later). I never actually said I didn't have one, but I guess I became single by default. I mean, since I didn't talk of a boyfriend, every1 assumed I didn't have one...which is part of why I decided 2 talk about him. I'm tired of sending mixed messages...you know?
Okay, I'm really sorry, but those pictures would have to be posted tomorrow. I promised I'll post them tomorrow. I promise. I'm sleepy.

Baby Bayo Is One
Lemme tell u the story bout Bayo: 1st of all, Bayo became our (me, Funmie, Sola, Ibukun, etc)friend when he started chasing Uju. At first she was doing shakara (don't we all?), but she later fell 4 him. 4 whatever reason sha, they broke up. Meanwhile, b4 they started dating (during the time he was still chasing her), Bayo gat this oyibo chic pregnant. The story that I heard sha is that they went 4 a party, got drunk, did it in the car, and poof! Baby Bayo was conceived. Hmmm, something tells me Bayo Snr. would not be happy with this post, but anyways...
So since Bayo and Uju broke up, the relationship bw him and the rest of us has naturally gone bad. We still talk and all that, but we don't call each other or anything like that. In fact, I don't even know his number sef. And today was the first time I ever went 2 his new house; I'm not sure, but maybe Bayo's reason 4 not inviting us is because of his history with Uju. But anyways... I sha went there either way. Of course, he tried 2 give me an xplanation like "oh, sorry I didn't tell you. I didn't even have time; in fact, I didn't know it'd be so big. I was only planning on entertaining kids..." Yeah right!!!
Anyways, Funmie and I went sha, and it was a nice event. We (adults) were not even ashamed of doing musical chairs, but unfortunately my ass got kicked out - literally. Needless 2 say, Baby Bayo is doing fine. I have 2 say that his mother is very down 2 earth (I think). She was cleaning up and helping out, even though she was the ONLY white person there. If I were in her shoes, I woulda definitely brought a black friend of mine. Anyways, I doubt if Baby Bayo knew that today was all about him.
Oh, and Funmie and I stole soooo much candy! Actually, Funmie is the one who stole the candy, but she stole it for me and her. I've still got a lot in my purse (I've actually only eaten two), so if you want some, lemme know b4 my family takes them all.
Until later sha...

Update On Skool
I'm about 2 take a shower, so I can go 2 Wal-Mart (yea, every1 and their mama knows I can't get enuff of Wal-Mart). I need 2 pick up some pictures I put online 2 be printed and also get my boyfriend's lotion. Why do I have 2 get him his lotion, you ask? I dunno o. Been wondering the same thing. But you know how men are just babies, and regardless of how strong and tough they may appear to be, the fact is that they are still all babies. Baby! Baby!! Baby!!!
Ok...enuff of that. Did I tell you that my cousin (who is more like a sista) just got married on saturday, the 19th? She lives in London. I woulda liked 2 go 4 her wedding, but that crazy gal didn't even tell any1 on time. I'm not 2 surprised sha cause I've always known her 2 be crazy like that. She makes me look very sane, for real.....and I know I've got a few things missin in my head. Anyways, that's by the way.
Gotta go take a shower b4 Uju shows up. She'll be mad if I'm not ready yet. Every1 knows I take a decade 2 take a shower, so bye....
Oh, and if you care to know, I;m still writing my book. I wrote it last yesterday and I will write some more today. I'm taking my laptop 2 Uju's house - just hope I will have the chance 2 write it there sha. Anyways, that's all for now. We go dey yarn later.
Geez, I still gotta wash my panties and brush my teeth twice b4 taking the actual shower. I betta run!

Closet Make-Over
For months now, every time I look @ my closet, I just shriek. But today, I woke up and got rid of some stuff. The closet was so full and packed that it couldn't even close. I had clothes hanging inside the closet, purses on the top shelf, and shoes on the floor. The closet was so full that things were randomly falling off by themselves. So today, I guess I just couldn't take it anymore...especially since my bed is facing the closet, and I am forced to look @ it every time I wake up.
Anyways, after saying my morning prayer today, I boldly approached my closet and reminded it that I am the boss! In other words, I started throwing clothes off their hangers. I took so many clothes out and freed up a buncha hangers. I've never seen my closet look so happy before! The closet used to be so full that you could hide a gang of thieves in there, and no1 would ever know.
After that, I attacked my shoes. I got rid of eleven pairs of shoes. Eleven!!! (And I still have five new pairs of shoes in boxes oh). Can you imagine how much space they were taking up? And then I got rid of four purses. Boy oh boy, was I happy or what?
With all the new space I created, I was able to hang up the new clothes I bought that were still in their shopping bags. Geeeez. What is up with me??? Seriously, I've got issues. I hardly really go out. I mean, I do, but not like the average woman my age. So all these clothes I have are rarely worn. They just hang there and collect dust literally. I have thirteen pairs of sunglasses, but I really only wear like three of them...and that's just occasionally, but you cannot get me to let any of them go. I dunno how many purses I have but I really only use one. It's only occasionally that I switch to something else.
If my closet could talk, it would be singing me a thanksgiving song right now. Even now, the closet doors still can't close, but it's a lot better than before. Although, now that I have added new clothes, I guess it's almost as bad as it was before. By the time I do laundry and hang those clothes up, the closet would be one clothe away from looking like it used to. Well, at least, I know it's clothes I wear that are filling it up instead of clothes I have not worn for years!
See You Later.....
Gotta go. I'm cooking chicken which I intend to fry. Yum Yum!!

Snakes On A Plane
Anyways, it was a good movie sha, even though I kept screaming and jumping; my heart was beating so fast mehn, I dunno how I made it outta there. Now, the next movie on my list is PULSE. I'm gonna go see it with Uju - I just don't know when.
School starts on Monday, but as at this point, I don't even know if I'm gonna go 2 skool this semester or not. Go figure. I'm serious, abi? It's not like I wanna be in school 4eva....of course not! but sometimes in life, you meet circumstances that are just beyond your control. In everything though, I have to give thanks to God. He alone knows why certain things happen. I explain them 2 people that will understand, and for others, I just say 'Oh well', cause I really don't think they will get it.
Anyways, I guess I'll let you know on monday if I'm going 2 skool this semester or not. If I am, great! And if I'm not, oh well. It's one of those things. Some day I'll look back and laugh.
We go yarn later sha. Lemme go think about my book and what is gonna happen next.
Have a very lovely day.

What Shall I Name This Post?
Tomorrow I'm going to see the movie 'Snakes On A Plane'; I know it will be full of suspense...with all the snakes et al, but I think I might enjoy it. The only cast member whose name I can remember right now is Samuel L. Jackson. Oh well, I guess I will tell you about it tomorrow anyways.
Lemme not waste anymore of your precious time; it's not like I have anything entertaining to talk about. I'm just tryna write ... something ... anything.
Bye sha...we go yarn later.

My Phone Don Pafuka
I plugged the charger in again sha but instead of charging, the thing just froze. I tried turning it off, but it wouldn't even turn off. I had to take the battery out and try 2 restart it, but it refused to come back on. After a few beatings, it finally came on.
I called my boyfriend immediately and told him that it was all his fault that my phone was pafukaing because if he hadn't been talking about gettin me another one, my phone wouldn't be dying. Anyways, since I have not had the phone for up to year, I decided to call T-Mobile to see if they will replace it but after the guy I spoke 2 told me to tell him d color of the sticker on the battery and I told him, he said the color indicated water damage which means they are not responsible for replacing it. Oh well! The phone finally charged anyways. Let's see if it will charge today or not.
Well, that's all for now. Lemme go wash the dishes.
Nite......

I Don Tire Finish
My nokia phone has been acting funny. On monday, it started acting all retarded. It became very slow. When I flip the phone open, the light doesn't come on. I really think this phone is getting to its last days. It's ridiculous cause I always take good care of all my phones; yet somehow they always manage to stop working. You should see the way Uju and Funmi treat their phones, but it never stops working. Mine is always the one that mysteriously stops working. Well, at least this one is even giving me warning. My last two nokia phones just died and never woke up again. And what made it really bad was the fact that I didn't have an address book, so I had no backup of all my numbers. Although I have to admit that I did drop this particular phone in water...but that was four months ago though. Could that be the problem now?
My boyfriend just got some really expensive nokia phone that isn't even sold in America, and this is like his third phone in one year. Think he has a phone obsession?? I think so too. Anyways, he has been talking about getting me another nokia phone (since we both love nokia dearly) but I have been hesitating because there is nothing wrong with the one I have right now, but now that my phone is messing up, I should probably let him buy that one, so that whenever this one decides to pafuka, I would have something else to start using.
Anyways, that's it for me and my phone. By the way, it was just last year that I wrote a piece about my phone. In fact, you should check it out and tell me what you think. Click HERE to read it.
Bye....

Naija Fest 2006
I ate so much suya I thought my stomach will burst. I bought some for myself, but most of what I ate came from other people's plates. Gosh, being a girl is so much fun! When I bought my own suya, I had 2 buy a lot cause I was taking home for folks (mom at al), so I bought suya for $70. Even I couldn't believe I spent that much on suya (haba!). That suya man made a lotta $$, no doubt. When I told him I was buying suya for my mom, he said I should tell my mom to go to www.suyamaster.com for more suya; of course I thought he was kidding. (Certainly this suya man couldn't possibly have a website!). Out of curiosity, I decided 2 check it out, and lo & behold, he actually has a website! On his website, the suya costs $2 per stick, but @ the NaijaFest, he sold 3 for $10. The man made money oh..chei! Anyways, the good thing about this "suya master" is that he is located in D.C. which is just about 45 mins away from me. Of course, my friends and I would definitely be checkin it out.
I also got a flyer for a new Naija restaurant here in Maryland. Can't wait 2 go there. They even serve isi ewu. Yay! I haven't had isi ewu since I gat 2 this country....and that has been a very, very long time.
I took some pictures @ the NaijaFest, which I will upload later jare. I really don't feel like doing it now. I'll post them on a later post jare. Right now, I just wanna sleep.
Oh, and the trip 2 King's Dominion in Virginia was great too! I got a little tanned from being under the sun for so long, and my voice is weak cause of all the screaming I did while I was on the roller coasters. Men, they were scary!
Until then sha, we go dey yarn. Have a lovely day!

Trip To VA
I went shoppin wit Uju 2day and that girl made me spend all I'm worth. I bought this reallllllly cute green bag, but then I don't even have anything 2 match it wit. No problem sha, I'll sort it out. I bought a another black purse from New York & Company, and I love it! Can't wait 2 lunch it on saturday.
Anyways, I'm talkin too much. As always, I will try 2 take pictures and post em for y'll 2 see. So much that isn't really a lot has been goin on in my life.
If you're paying attention, you'll know that I am in a hurry right now. Gotta go to bed cause I gotta wake up @ 6:45am to get ready. Have a wonderful day!!!
I'm not travellin wit my laptop but if I desperately need to post something, I can always do the audioblog thing which I recently signed up for. Until then sha, have a Blessed and fulfilled weekend! (I know I will).

Embarrassing Stories 1
Just as I expected, the pastor started touching people and they started falling (and some were even convulsing!...or so it seemed). Anyways, when the Pastor touched me, I wasn't knocked out by the Holy Ghost, so I decided to fake it...so that I wouldn't look evil, of course. I fell on the floor like the rest of the people that were 'touched' by the Spirit. I closed my eyes and looked like I had passed out.
The only problem was that I didn't wake up like every1 else! I slept off on the floor, and by the time I woke up, there was no one else on the floor. Every one had gotten up and gone back 2 their seats. And from the looks of things, I had been sleeping for longggggg! I was soooooooo friggin embarrassed! I'm pretty sure a lot of people knew I fell asleep on the floor. The hardest part of the whole thing was taking the walk of shame back to my seat. It felt like all eyes were on me!
Well, that's it for my embarrassing story. I will be back with more. Trust me, I do a pretty good job @ embarrassing myself. Watch out for the 2nd edition.
Have a Blessed Day!

Six Flags' Commercial
I have been lookin' out for Six Flags's commercial on tv this summer, but 2 my disappointment, it has been no where to be found. Why? Anyways, I actually went and searched for it. Yeap, that's how bad I wanted 2 see it. I love the tune, I love the guy dancin, I love everythin' bout the commercial.
It's funny how he came down from the bus and could barely walk, but as soon as he heard the tune, he started dancing like a mad man. Well, call me a mad woman, but I have been dancin like him. I've been replaying the music and dancing to it. Men, they should use me 4 a commercial like this. Stupid commercials r the best! Who wants 2 have a serious commercial? They're boring!
Watch the commercial and notice the man that suddenly starts dancin'. It's as if he couldn't control himself....like the music just took over him. His facial expression looks as if he was just there standin on his own, and then next thing, this strange dance just took over him. Haha, mehn, I can't stop laffin.
Y'll need 2 enjoy this video the best you can. It's awesome! Thank God some1 was smart enuff 2 post it. Gosh, I gotta stop writing so I can do the six flags dance.
Enjoy!

Pepper Spray Is Quite Ugh.... Peppery!
After going there yesterday, I told Funmie that when I get married, I would be sending her on errands to Farmer's Market (since she wants 2 one day own a restaurant). She said I musta lost my mind, so I told her that if she didn't go where I sent her, I would make sure that I come 2 her house and take all the food she has....cause you know her food is bangin!
Anyways, I was here (@ my aunt's house) and we were all having a family night, so to say. We were all in the living room havin a nice time oh, and then my aunt (the unmarried one) took my bag and started looking thru it. She brought out my Mace [pepper spray] (yes, I do carry mace. You never know when one might need it!) and she was all fascinated 'bout it - dunno. Next thing, she proceeded 2 spray just a lil bit in the palm of her hand - I dunno why. As if that wasn't enough, she sniffed it and of course she started coughing non-stop. Once again, I dunno why she did a thing like that. I really cannot explain the strange behaviors of my family, 4 real.
In less than a minute, everyone in the house was coughing, includin me. Even the people upstairs were coughin sef. My grandma and other aunt were pissed as shit. The culprit herself ran upstairs in2 the room and locked the door. I could not stop laffin!!!........and coughing!!!!
Today is my fifth day wit Ms. Flow and she should really be going by now, but I think she will not be gone till tomorrow cause she started in the late hours of saturday. Oh well. As long as she is gone by the 11th when I would be travellin 2 King's Dominion in Virginia. Of course, you know I can't be wearin a bloody diaper while I'm tryna swim...not that I can swim but...
Anyways...I guess that's it for now. While I was taking a shower, I thought about something 2 add to my book. Gots 2 go now. I need 2 get a typin before I forget it.

Shame On Me
I've been so cranky today...for several reasons. One is because Ms. Flow has gat me right where she wants me, and the other reason is because of something that will happen tomorrow. I was so hurt/pissed by it but when I tried 2 talk about it 2 some who usually listens, the person said "yea, whatever!". Sometimes I really dunno why I bother. I am used 2 sorting my mess out myself, so I dunno why I went and got myself all tangled up. It's not even that serious! So basically, I've been goin thru a buncha emotions 2day - happy, sad, pissed, angry, hurt. And I've reacted in different ways - laughed, slept, cried, read my book. took a long shower, took a long walk, etc. (And no, I do not wish to talk about this with anyone either! Lemme get ova my last attempt 2 'talk about it')
I dunno why life just can't go the way we want it to. Why must life take several detours into Too-Bad land? Why can't we just have it the way we want it? I guess that wouldn't be life then. That would be us dreaming! It's only monday, and I already feel pissed about tuesday, wednesday and thursday. Thursday will be a lil betta, I hope.
My eyes are so bloodshot, you'd think I guzzled down a bottle of hot vodka. But that isn't the case @ all. My voice is almost gone - I dunno why. I haven't been screamin.
I took a long walk this evening and it was great. I left my house past 7pm and came back past 9pm, so I was gone 4 about 2 hours. By the time I came back, the sun had been replaced by the moon. A fine moon, by the way.
...and for all the people who read this blog, y'll really need 2 learn 2 leave comments, damn it!
Alright, that's it 4 now.

Hella Cranky
She came yesterday anyway, and today being my second day has not been funny @ all. I've just been pissed 4 no reason. Thank goodness for the novel I'm reading (Red Light Wives by Mary Monroe). It's a really nice book, but sadly, it is the first book I have ever read from her. I dunno how I coulda passed such an outstanding author by. Ain't that a shame?
Anyway, like I was sayin, Ms. Flow has gat me feeling like something has been stuck up my ass. I'm even pissed @ myself for being so pissed without reason. There is nothing fun about Ms. Flow coming around. After all, who wants 2 be bleeding, in pain, pissed, tired......and even bloated?! I no come understand God sha. If I only had 2 bleed, I would not mind @ all, but then it comes with all these other stuff like hormonal inbalances & stuff. I came back from Church 2day and just went strait 2 bed. That way, I didn't have 2 think about my yeye mood swings.
Speaking of Church sef, I ...or rather we (me, mom & grandma) went 2 the Igbo service 2day. Have I told you how much I hate Igbo church? I love my Igbo people oh, and I love being around them of course, esp since I am one of them, but the House of God is not one place I wanna share with them? Why, you ask. Well, there are just wayyyy 2 many hypocrites! I am not a saint, of course, but I do not pretend 2 be one either. All these people just smile in front of u and then turn around 2 say some ugly things about you behind your back. Damn cowards.
The whole church sef is disorganized. There are so many distractions during the service, and if I did not know any better, I would say the devil is tryna distract us from hearing the word of God, but why would the devil distract such a service? He's probably sittin in front of the choir and singin his heart out!....no offense 2 that woman who dresses almost naked to church with her eyebrows raised so high she permanently looks surprised, but anyways... The choir sef is disorganized; there is no practice of any sort, and from the looks of it, I think people just come 2 church and decide if they wanna sing that day or not. If they do, they'll go and join the alleged choir. The distractions range from crying babies (with their parents shoutin "ssshhhh!!!!") to ringing cell phones (with dumb ass people answering 2 say "Hello? Ano'm n'uno uka [I'm in Church]. Ka'm kpoghachi gi [lemme call you back]). Why pick up the phone in the first place? Of course babies always cry in the church (ane everywhere else 4 that matter) but the smart thing 2 do is 2 take the baby out instead of screaming at him/her. If anything, that only frightens the poor baby and makes him/her cry even more!
Anyways, from my tone, you can see I am not in a very good mood. Woulda liked 2 write some more, but I am getting pissed by the minute. Sometimes I just wanna strangle those church people. I used 2 think that when I got married, I would primarily attend a Nigerian church with my husband and kids, but now I know better. I most certainly will not be attending ANY Nigerian church...Igbo or no Igbo. By the way, my disdain for that Igbo church has nothing 2 do with my lack of appreciation 4 other Naija churches. They are all the same. They gossip too much. And it seems like no1 actually comes 2 church for God. They all just wanna show off their precious new lace. Damn devil incarnates.
Anyways, lemme go b4 I say something that will make God knock me upside my big head. Lemme go continue readin the novel. It has 635 pages and I am currently on page 430.
See you tomorrow then.

I've Been Diagnosed As A Drug Addict
My drug of choice: Nair Hair Removal lotion
Well, remember how I said I had 2 groom? Yes oh, so I decided to groom today. I put some nair on my legs before I took a shower. I tied a wrapper just below my ass and I was in the living room, when my mom saw my legs and said "lemme tell you, this thing you're rubbing on your legs to have smooth legs is just like ingesting a drug. You've become a drug addict like all those akata people."
Hia! I couldn't stop laffin o. I'm like, I know she did not just call me a drug addict because of Nair. I mean, what is wrong with Nair 4 cryin out loud. And I don't even use it that often! She's lucky I am not hairy cause if I were, I would use it like every two days.
Abi how does she expect me to look? She wants me 2 grow my hair and look like a grizzly bear abi? It will not work o!
By the way, after I took a shower, decided 2 walk 2 Uju's house (about 5 mins away). I was still on my street and my attention was on my cell phone cause I was tryna call Busola when some strange man just parked his car in front of me and started asking me if I called him. I mean, he rolled his windows down 2 ask me if I called him! How could I have called him? I didn't know him. I obviously didn't know his name. I didn't flag him down - in fact, I didn't even know a car was coming. I gave him a I-know-you-did-not-just-ask-me-that-question look, and then he apologized and said "Oh, I'm sorry, sweetie. It's just that you look so attractive, so I thought you called me." What da hell?! Why do I meet these people?
I was not wearing anything special o! In fact, I think I was looking more like a maid sef. I was wearing a long black and white skirt and a black top. Nothing spectacular. That man just felt like making a fool of himself, that's all. That's how the other day one drunk, white man stopped to ask me if I wanted 2 party. When I said no, the fool now said "Oh you've got a nice ass there." This man is probably older than my father o! Ewwww. I shuld just stop walkin on the street 4 real.
I'm a conservative dresser too, so they cannot say that all my skin was atttracting them cause there was no skin 2 see. It must be my beautiful personality. Yeap, that has 2 be it. LOL. Hahahaha. Gosh, I crack myself up 4 real.

My Nephew Has Been Born!!!
My cousin's name is Uzo, but I call him Lil Uzo. He's not little (of course), but his father (my father's older brother) is also Uzo. So instead of calling them "Uzo Senior" and "Uzo Junior", we call them "Big Uzo" and "Lil Uzo". Lil Uzo's wife(Natasha) is from Reunion Island, near Mauritius Island and Madagascar...yes, such a place (Madagascar) exists. I'm saying so because when I told dumb-ass Uju that my sister in-law is from Madagascar, she said "there's such a place?! I thought it was made up for that animated movie called 'Madagascar'". So if you're thinking Uju is a dumbass, then yes, I wholly agree with you.
Anyways....back to Lil Uzo and his new fatherhood. Uzo is soooo foine. In fact, if he weren't my cousin, I would......well, let's leave that alone. He's such an international man. Lemme explain. His father is Nigerian = black (my dad's older brother), his mother is German = white. Lil Uzo lived in Jos (Plateau State) till he graduated high school. Then he left for Germany. Then he left for Russia (med skool). Then he left for Paris (business skool), and now, he is in Luxemberg (working). He speaks English, pigeon english, some Igbo, German, Russian, and French. And if you're wondering, his wife speaks French....and English. The baby's name is Joaquim Odera Ezimora.
Why am I telling you all about Lil Uzo's not-so-little life? Told you I can't shut up.
Can you believe that in this summer heat I am drinking a cup of hot tea? Yes oh, I have a sore throat. I believe I drank way too many cold drinks on saturday (@ the cookout). My house kinda feels like winter right now anyway cause the air conditioner has been on full blast...which is very unlike my mother. She usually complains of being cold, while I complain of being hot, but this time, she's hot and I'm cold. What is wrong with this picture? My house is so cold that I have even brought my blanket out .... in the middle of friggin' July! So you can imagine how cold my house is. I guess it would be in my best interest to put some real clothes on instead of tying a wrapper around all. I'm so lazy mehn. Dressing up is a chore for me. I walk around the house naked all day; by now, I'm sure my neighbours already know how much hair I have in my coochie.
Speaking of hair, I've been thinking about getting a Brazillian wax. What say you? I don't think I'm ready for it though...since I heard it's really, really painful. Maybe I'll do it before I have a baby; that way the child would have a "clear" pathway when he/she is coming in. My mother had me thru CS, so I didn't have to pass thru my mama's coochie. Maybe next time.
Anyways, that's if for now. We go yarn later.

What Have I Been Up 2?
Yesterday, I was @ my grandma's house watching her rugrats cause she had to go for her doctor's appointment (just in case she's pregnant, lol). I was sleepy the whole day. It's quite a pity that my body clock is off the regular clock; I mean, I sleep during the day and stay awake @ nite. I usually write @ night, you know, and I write @ nite because that's when my brain works betta, and I can just focus and pour my thoughts out. No interruptions. No ringin' phones. No IMs. No erh...I dunno what else, but I just know I write betta.
I was chatting with a friend of mine called Papa BomBoy (yes, that's his name - don't ask me any yeye questions), and he was telling me that Uju looks (in the pictures) as if we didn't give her suya. Anywayz, the reason I'm mentioning this is because I just wanna tell every1 what Uju did @ the cookout. She kept taking food from the grill and saying it was for 'mama' (my grandma), and we kept wondering how come 'mama' has taken food so many times and still isn't satisfied. It was only afta the cookout that we realized that half of the stuff that were supposed 2 enter 'mama's' stomach actually entered Uju's stomach. This kin friend sef! Sometimes, I wonder why I have not discarded her.
I am really disappointed in myself that I have still not finished my book; it's a lot harder than I thought, but I am determined. I started the book on he final days of December 2005, and when I started, I thought I would be done by Feb 2006. What a joke! We are almost in August and I am still not done. It worries me that I am not done; I had no intention of writing it for such an extended period, but on the plus side, it's a really good book. I'm not tryna toot my own horns, but I know it's good. Besides, people that have read it thus far said it's good. Ibukun is my most enthusiastic reader; her desire to read the book makes me wanna write more, just so that I don't disappoint her. She even made me bring my laptop to the cookout! She really loves the book, and I truly, truly appreciate her for that.
Hmmmm, I've been looking at this big, black purse I have been carrying about, and even though I like it, I need to get me another one. Something that is ugh...trendier and more sophisticated. The kinda purse you'd see and swear there has to be at least $10, 000 in it, but then you open it to find just $10. Well, technically, $10 isn't so far from $10,000.... just three zeros missing. Anyways, I'm gonna have to get one b4 I go for the NaijaFest on the 12th of next month. I seriously need 2 go shoppin, so I can get an outfit for the event. I already have a mental picture of what I wanna wear; I just need 2 have it physically. Gosh, but I'm broke. This isn't such a bad time 2 explore having an arizto....abi how you take see am??
Abeg, lemme go do something else jare. I have been parading my house wearing just a green & white string bikini. Why did I have 2 tell you that? Told you I can't shut up. On the plus side sha, I guess I could conclude that I'm tryna represent Naija with my underwear. After all, charity begins @ home.
Speakin of Naija, I wanna go for the independence march abi parade in New York. Hmmm, that means I need 2 go shoppin for the green and white outfit I'll wear 2 support Naija. Oooh, I could also wear my green and white underwear! The good thing is that I have more than one green and white underwear (they have diff designs). It's a three-day event, but I'm not interested in the after-party and all that ish. Maybe some other time. For now, I just wanna march the streets of NY in my green-white-green. I'll post the website as soon as I get it.
Until then.... toodle-oo... (my ex used 2 say that; he sounded so gay! Xplains why he's an ex, right? Hahaha).
Bye jare...

Pre-Cookout Gist
Tomorrow is the cookout @ my aunt's house, and to tell you the truth, fear dey catch me oh! You see, my aunt is a very faithful and commited Deeper Life attendee,so I'm wondering how this cookout will go. Will I be able 2 play ANY music? Are we gonna have 2 pray for three hours b4 the cookout? Two hours during the cookout and maybe another three hours after??? Ok, maybe I'm exxagerating sha, but nawa o. E be like say I no calculate this cookout very well.
I'll be sure to take pictures for you to view, (and if possible, even a video sef). If you want, I could even send you some food; just send me an email - you know my address. Speaking of taking pictures sef, make I go plug my camera to charge.
*gone 2 plug camera*
*back*
I've deleted several pictures from my memory stick. Before i deleted the pix, I had space for 96 pix, but now I have for 253...yay! Although I know I will not need that much....haba...even if na president's wedding.
I have 2 wake up early tomorrow, so I can call Funmi 2 come and cook the fried rice. You know Funmi doesn't come on time, so I have 2 disturb her and ring her phone off the hook, so she can bring her butt here on time.
The only thing I'm looking forward to in the cookout is the suya. I want me some suya! It's not gonna taste like the one in Naija, but it's something. Mehn, I miss my home!
I guess that's all for now sha; wish me luck (I'll need it).
Don't 4get 2 send me an email if u want some food o
Have a wonderful night.
Update On My Hair & D'Banj
Well, yes, she did do my hair and yes, she waited for me outside for about 15 minutes, but she didn't come on time o!
Lemme xplain: @ first, Funmi said she would come @ 3pm, then later she called and said she won't leave her location till 3:30...which should given her about twenty minutes 2 get 2 my house (so let's say 3:50pm). Uju and I left my house (for Sam's Club) @ 3:01pm; we went 2 buy some stuff (like the drinks and burgers and hot dogs) for the cookout tomorrow (22nd july). Funmi called me @ 4:44pm 2 tell me she was @ my house. Would you consider that as being on time? I don't. But anywayz, she did a wonderful job with my hair. Me likes. I told her I would be kind enough 2 let her keep doing it...until I can afford a real hair dresser, of course.
(for non-Nigerians that do not understand D'Banj's lyrics) I just found out yesterday that D'Banj's song is about receiving a blow job (not that it makes me like the song any less). But that aside sha, I just think that D'Banj is sooooooo damn foine. I'd love to meet him some day, so we can record a duet (no, I cannot sing worth shit, but hey, I can try, right?).
Well, I gotta go now; I need 2 call Uju back. She just called me, but I didn't pick up cause I was talking to my mom.
As always, have a Blessed day (I know I will)

I Have Really Outdone Myself This Time
I cannot even put a comb through it - that's how bad it is. Funmi is coming over to my house today to do my hair...and I must confess that the only thing that truly inspired me to get it done is the fact that Uju and I are hosting abi organizing a cookout in my aunt's house, and friends are coming. To be more specific, guys are coming over, so I cannot be found looking like a glorified maid. Besides, even if I must be a glorified maid....maid get level now.. ah ah!
Anywayz, I'm gonna post this now and call Funmie 2 know what time she'll be here; then I'll add 2-3 hours to whatever time she tells me (Funmie is extremely bad with time). I hope she @ least shows up sha cause with Funmie's history, she either shows us extremely late or she does not show up @ all.
Well, that's it for now. Have a Blessed day (I know I will).

Tongolo
This song is a song that I have fallen in love with...dunno why, so I took it upon myself to show it to the rest of the world...since I'm so nice and all.
Ladies, u have 2 agree with me that D'Banj is one foine man! I dunno why he is situated in London...instead of here with me! Anyways, 'nuff said.
Watch the video and tell me what you think; well actually, you don't have 2 tell me what you think, but just enjoy it!

Neva Missed My House So Much.....
Uju was here yesterday (I had 2 braid her hair...yes, single braids, and no, I'm not doing urs!). We were up till about 2am. Actually, I think we finished the hair @ about 12am, but we had 2 do a whole buncha things afta that. She slept here and left this morning (the girl can't get enough of me). And by the time we went 2 bed, it was about 3am...or almost 4, I think. I woke up this morning and went 2 Church. I cannot tell you what the priest said cause I wasn't there.
These kids don't get tired of playing. Uju gat so mad yesterday that she almost beat the 10 year old up (and she only met him yesterday!). Anyways, speakin' of Uju, she now has a boyfriend. Yes o! The girl don hook one bobo like that o. He's fine, tall and Igbo...just the way she likes them. Let's call him Kaka for now.
My friends and I are taking a trip 2 King's Dominion, New Jersey on the 11th of August. We will spend the night there and come back on the morning of the 12th. We'll rest a lil, and then proceed to attend the Naija Fest here in Maryland. I'm lookin' 4ward 2 it! Can't wait 2 go on those rides and scream till Jesus hears my prayers.
*crossin my fingers & waitin patiently 4 my aunt 2 return from this her trip*

I'm Exhausted
These kids are driving me insane 4 real. I cannot be too mad at them, of course, cause I know they are just kids, but abeg, body no be firewood.: a 4 month old baby boy, a one year old girl, a two year old boy, and a three year old girl, so basically, there are seven kids in this house ranging from 3 months old to 10 years old. Oga o.
Anyways, I don't wanna start repeating myself like a broken record for no reason....cause you know how annoying that can get...especially 4 u the readers.
Wasn't it just yesterday that I complained about receiving calls from numbers I cannot call back? Well, I was helping my aunt cook some rice @ night and I didn't want my phone 2 disturb anyone, so I put it on silent (though it still vibrates in its silent mode). I went upstairs and by the time I came back, I had two missed calls from unknown numbers...meaning I couldn't call them back, of course.
The calls came in @ about 1am.... darn it... I don't like when this happens (get over it, Vera...right?)
Oh well........
That's it for now; we go yarn again 2morrow (hopefully).

Don't You Just Hate It....?
It's even worse when the person calls from an "unknown" number, or if it's a "private" call; I don't really care if someone blocks his/her number and calls me...cause I won't pick up anyway. If it's important to the person, he or she would unblock his/her number. (Although sometimes, those private calls are from Naija...but anywayz...)
Someone called me twice @ about 4:30am this morning; even though I kinda heard it ringing, I didn't pick up cause I was too deep in sleep. I had gone 2 far 2 be brought back to the harsh reality of haboring a very, very nappy hair on my head (someone pls put a rope on my neck and drag me 2 the salon...and pay, of course!). When I woke up this morning and saw the missed calls with area code 323, I quickly checked the phone book, and discovered it was California...but who could it be? I realized I had a new voicemail message, so I decided to listen 2 it, but guess what? The person let my voice kini finish talking, but then the person did not leave a message.... arrrrggggghhhhh!!!! That's the one thing that's worse than not leaving a message....it's leaving a silent message. Dammit.... that caller betta call me back....
In spite of my phobia 4 calling unknown numbers, I decided to call this number back, but guess what? The automated service came on and said "Your number cannot be completed as dialed; please check the number and dial again." Haba! Now, I cannot stop thinking about who it was that called me. Why would some1 do a thing like that, ehn..... haba.
Dear unreachable caller....whoever you, you better call me back o! I'm warning you now oh...you better call me back immediately. I am not playing with you oh!

Weddin' Plannin' No Dey Easy O!
On the positive side sha; Sola has chosen her gown; the bridesmaids have chosen their gowns too (uniform gowns), and I have chosen my gown too (I'm the maid of honor and my gown is different...it's sexxxy!)
After going to Potter's Place, we went to see the cake lady. She gave us an estimate on the cake sha, which wasn't bad at all. It was around the price we expected. By the way, in case you're wondering, the wedding isn't till next year, but we are just tryna be proactive by planning right now, which is good cause Potter's Place is even already all booked for next year July....can you imagine that?
Well that's it for now sha; I am soooooo tired. I am so bleeping sleep deprived. I'm always sleep deprived, right? Well, I keep goin 2 bed late and waking up early. Usually, I make it up during the day, but I have not been able to do so lately. My eyes are as red as scarlet... ok, maybe not that red, but you get my point.
Have a wonderful night! (Or morning, dependin' on which part of the world you're situated in)

Yummy Broccoli

I have recently developed a new addiction: broccoli. I dunno wat is going on with me and broccoli oh, but I am just in love with it. In fact, I think I even blush every time I see broccoli...hence my reason for taking a picture of it @ the grocery store. Awwww, look @ those perfect lil trees.
When I first came here (America), I hated broccoli...especially the smell, but now, I love it! I think my addiction started when I ate marshed potato and broccoli @ Chilis restaurant. Mehn...that steaned broccoli made my day! I've been craving for more. Of course, I had to buy some 2day. Just look @ them... perfect vegetables.
Anywayz, how has every1 been? Once again, I am sleep deprived. I have not slept decently since thursday...and it's all my fault. I've attempted 2 sleep several times 2day, but each time I start fallin asleep, some nuisance will call me. Well, I hope they are happy now cause I am not sleeping anymore. I'm gonna go watch a Naija movie called Fishers Of Men. I'm alwayz watching Naija movies, right? I know.
So does any1 else love broccoli as much as I do? If not, u should try it. Mmmmm mmmm yummy!

Forsake All Others And Cling To Your Wife (Or Husband)
I'm a very private person o. I love my privacy; I love my space; I love my alone-time. B4 I get married, my husband and I would have to talk about a lot of things...like relatives. I don't mind if relatives come 2 my house every now and then, but not for them 2 come and kanda in my house, and then try 2 tell me how 2 run the house again - that's bullshit. I don't care whether they r his relatives or mine....no1 is coming 2 home to make it theirs. If they so much wanna run a home, then they need to go back 2 their spouses....or get married. Either way, they need 2 be out of my space. Those relatives can just be devil-sent. I know I have so much anger and disdain in my voice, but I have my reasons...trust me. But I dont wanna get in2 that right now sha.
Have a Blessed Day
p.s. I did put up Uju's picture, but she kept beggin and beggin 2 take it off. Of course, u know I'm a kind-hearted girl/lady/woman, so I let her be.
But don't worry, I will be putting more pix up....without a doubt!
:Hugz & Kisses:
Call Me Slow But....
Boy oh boy! You have no idea how happy I am right now. I'll definitely be taking my camera 2 more places. I'm gonna go charge my camera now, so the battery would be full tomorrow, you know? Then I can just take random shots and put them up for the world 2 see. I'm gonna be invincible! Unstoppable! Untouchable!..... (Ok, calm down, Vera, it's just a camera.)
Why am I up @ this time of the morning? It's 4 A.M for crying out loud. Well, I guess I betta go 2 bed now cause I gotta be up @ 10 A.M. to go buy a router for my laptop (since the internet I've been stealing from my neighbors is currently not working).
I'm gonna be sooo bloated tomorrow cause I have been drinking a lotta milk... I dunno why. I'm just gonna be farting all over the place tomorrow. Watch out, people! Professional farter on the way! Anyways, I think I'm gonna get me some milk tomorrow, but I'm gonna get me some Lactaid (lactose free) cause I'm really starting to think I'm lactose-intolerant. Why else would I be so bloated after having milk? It's worse when I take Naija milk (Peak et al).
Good nite Y'll....
When I wake up, I'm gonna put up a picture of Uju chewing a bone like it's her last day on earth.

4th of July Celebration
Well, I guess I'm kinda late in delievering this (since it's the 6th already but anywayz...)
Howz every1 doing anywayz? How did your 4th of july weekend go? I spent mine in Jennifer's house. Twas a lotta fun; there was a cookout, and all I ate was suya. Oh my God, it was great!!!!!! Mmm mmm mmmm. I had 2 bring some back 4 my mom sef, and from her moaning while eating it, I think she enjoyed it immensely.
How work dey? Hmmm, I have not written my book in a minute, but no problem sha; I'm about 2 do that now....soon as I finish this post, of course. Meanwhile, my writing job is going just fyne...thanx 4 asking.

Pre-Independence Day
Tomorrow is the 4th of July (Independence Day), so there would be lots of fireworks et al. I'm thinking bout going downtown to the Inner Harbor 2 watch some serious fireworks. I've been here so long, but I have never been there 4 fireworks. One time we were all supposed 2 go as a family, but my aunt discouraged every1 because "Bin Ladin would bomb the place." I guess we were all chickens because we agreed with her and stayed home. Needless 2 say, I did not really think the place would be bombed...although I was still scared 2 go sha.
We're currently watching a Naija movie called "Day of Atonement", and it's a really nice movie sha. I mean, it's not like "Oh-my-God-it-is-so-good!", but it's aiight. We first watched "Civil War", which I have watched soooo many times, but I just keep watching it. It is just tooooo funny. I can't stop laughing.
If you care 2 know, my job is going just fyne -you betta care 2 know!

Updates...Updates...Updates
#1. Due to all the rain that fell last week, my wireless network has been down. My network has been giving me what it calls "limited or no connectivity", but it is actually "no connectivity @ all" because I cannot even do anything online. I can't sign in2 my messenger, and I cannot open a web page either. How frustrating is that?
#2. On friday I went 2 Uju's house to cornrow her hair, but we ended up watching Naija movies and sleeping. Eventually, I did the cornrows, but just two. And she did same to/for me. But dammmnnnnn, her hands hurt so much. I was on the verge of tears.
#3. Yesterday I went 2 see Superman, and afta seeing it, it got me thinking: maybe I should only date a man that can fly like superman. I mean, who needs a regular man when you can get one that flies....4 free! He can take me ANYWHERE ANY TIME. I would not need 2 pay for airfare, and I definitely do not have 2 have any hassle. Just pack my bags and zoom off. And let's not forget that the trip would be shorter sef.
#4. Well, I dunno what number 4 is. All I know is that I thought I had a number 4, but I guess not. Well, here's nothing then, I guess.
Enuff about me, how are you? How was ur weekend?
#5. Oh, I remember number 4! But since I already have a number 4, I have 2 change it to number 5. On saturday I accompanied Uju to an event. Her aunt was the caterer @ the event, and she needed people 2 help her serve, so Uju and I were two of the 5 people that were serving. Mehn...I cannot tell you how we suffered o! We were supposed to serve the food to the guests, but you know these Naija people now - they all wanted to be part of it. They all wanted to come in2 the kitchen and take their own food, no matter how many times we said "WE ARE SERVING THE FOOD OURSELVES". Nawa 4 Naija people o. There was so much commotion and kata-kata @ the event - no surprise, of course. We left there @ about 4am - thank God. When we got home, we took long showers - not together o!!!!... although there is nothing new 2 see anywayz
Well, that will be all for now; guess I will be back later.
